Here’s the latest roundup of our data signals across AI, energy & markets.
Super, apparently. The US Census Bureau’s business survey now asks firms whether they use “Super Intelligence”. Its examples include voice recognition, which is not quite what Bostrom had in mind. 24.6% of firms said they use it in early October, up from 17.3% in late November 2025.
Not in my yard. Only 3% of political ads mentioning data centers in October supported them. 57% opposed them, and the remainder didn’t take a clear stance.
Chip nation. Semiconductor parts accounted for almost half of South Korea’s exports in October.

Dominating compute. The US has 72% of the world’s AI compute, while China only has 10%. Lab assistant. At least 17% of biology preprints in September acknowledged using an LLM, close to the 19% citing specialized tools like AlphaFold. Oil drop. The World Bank expects global oil supply to drop 5.2% this year – the biggest drop in more than four decades outside of the 2020 recession. Disengaged. Only 29% of US workers are engaged at work, the lowest since 2011.
Shorter workweeks can work. A study of over 58,000 French firms from 1994-2001 showed that cutting the workweek from 39 hours to 35 barely reduced output, which fell just 1%, while TFP rose 2%.
