The Radiant Roundup- Tons of ideas to help you celebrate the faith in your home & classroom from Look to Him and be Radiant!

November Radiant Roundup

Hello friends! Happy November, the Month of the Holy Souls in Purgatory, a perfect time to pray for our faithful departed and fix our eyes on the hope of Heaven. It's also not too late to celebrate all the Saints or even to look ahead to Advent! I hope you find tools in this month's Radiant Roundup to help your kiddos pray, learn, and celebrate all month long!

Happy All Saints Day!

Happy All Saints Day (weekend)! We celebrate all the holy men and women who have gone before us, now gathered before the throne of God praying for us. All Souls Day then invites us to pray for those who have died, completing the connection between the Church Militant, Church Triumphant, and Church Suffering.

These Saint pennants are a perpetual favorite in my classroom (and on the blog). I have them in a variety of sizes, a coloring page version, and even an editable version so that you can customize with your favorite Saints. They are a perfect decoration for this month!

All Souls Day

All month we pray for the faithful departed. Help kids learn more about the connection we have in the Mystical Body of Christ using this Prayer for the Faithful Departed Card.  For older kids, you might also like these Memento Mori resources (includes recommended video, Scripture and Saint quotes, and Visio Divina with artwork) or this detailed Relics workbook (contains an explanation of relics, a Bible study, and the connection between relics and the Mass.)

Vocation Celebration Bulletin Board

Vocations Awareness Week is November 3-9, 2024. To celebrate the vocations from our school alumni and encourage our students to listen for the plan God has for their lives, I made this giant Vocation Celebration bulletin board!

In this post, I shared all the details, more photos, and even editable templates if you'd like to make your own version.

Books About Vocations

There have been some great books published recently celebrating the gift of Vocations! I compiled a list of books about Religious Life, the Priesthood, and Matrimony in this post.

Of course, it is also super helpful to read the biographies of Saints who followed God's plan for their lives through a particular Vocation, but these books are more generally about the characteristics and calling. If you have any recommendations to add to this list, feel free to leave a comment or shoot me an email!

St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Activity Books

A few years ago I had the honor of working with the St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Shrine in New York City to create a set of activities to help kids learn about St. Frances Xavier Cabrini.

We made two workbooks about her life, one aimed at lower elementary and one more for middle schoolers. The books have "mirrored" pages with similar activities, so there are perfect to use with siblings or multi age groups.

The workbooks are both almost 20 pages long and contain biographical info, activity pages, coloring pages, inspiring quotes, and more. They are only available through the shrine, but they are also totally FREE! Perfect for learning about this American Saint around her feast day on November 13th!

 Miraculous Medal Embroidery Pattern

The feast of the Miraculous Medal is at the end of the month on November 27th (and St. Catherine Laboure is on November 28th). The Miraculous Medal happens to be my favorite Marian devotion!

I have this sweet embroidery pattern on the blog. It has a stich guide and printable pattern. You could make a super simple version for beginners, or go all out and add your own design elements to make it more advanced.

If you make your own embroidery, I'd love for you to post a pic on social media and tag me or send it to me in an email so that I can see what you create!

November Book List

This month's stack of books includes a recap of great books for All Saint's Day, a few for All Soul's Day, a list for Black Catholic History month, and books for feast days including St. Martin de Porres, St. Martin of Tours, St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, St. Elizabeth of Hungary, and St. Catherine Laboure! Go check out the list for some great books to add to your home or classroom library!

All About Advent & Christmas

Since releasing my book All About Advent & Christmas: Sharing the Seasons of Hope and Wonder with Children, and I've been overjoyed to hear how helpful it was for you to teach about the traditions of these beautiful Seasons.

Advent starts on December 1st, so I thought I'd do a gentle nudge now for you to consider picking up a copy. We sold out of the first printing before Advent even began last year (which was terrible timing!) so I know some people missed the prime window to use it!

You can find all the details and where you can order here.

All the Advent Printables

Illustrator Shari Van Vranken (of Catholic Paper Goods) and I also created a collection of over thirty pages of printables to correspond with our Advent book- and they are all totally FREE for you!

Using the artwork and catechetical content from the book, the printables include coloring pages, more complex activity pages for older kids, a few resources translated into Spanish, a bulletin board set, and a clickable calendar with activities for each day.

You can get ALL the printables in this post!

 Prayer Card Collection

I hope the 2nd edition of this resource is a useful tool for you, your family, and your students. Thank you for being a LHBR subscriber!
