Em Fevereiro presenteei-vos com uma Kawaii Box e agora é a vez da Japan Candy Box. Como talvez já saibam, consiste numa caixa de subscrição mensal onde recebem 8-10 snacks e doces japoneses. Esta é a edição de Abril e chegou recheada de novidades. Agora inclui um panfleto com informação sobre cada doce e snack, bem como algumas curiosidades e uma nova mascote. In February I presented you with a Kawaii Box and now it is time for the Japan Candy Box. As you probably already know, it's a monthly subscription box where you receive 8-10 japanese snacks and candy. This is the April box and it's filled with news. Now it includes extra information on the candy & snacks as well as some curiosities and a new mascot. 


The word of the month is Umai = Delicious. Keep reading to know what was in my box. In the end you can win one for yourself by filling out the widget! The giveaway is international.

Kabaya Puchi Purin Pudding Chocolates
~Chocolate~

"Pudding shaped cup filled with delicious mini chocolates shaped like traditional Japanese pudding."

Comecemos por estes mini chocolates com formato de pudins tradicionais japoneses. A embalagem tem o formato semelhante e lá dentro vinham imensos mini pudins. Confesso que o sabor não me fascinou. Sabe realmente a pudim (a uma espécie de pudim vá) com chocolate. Não é de todo mau, mas não foi o meu favorito. / Let's start with these mini chocolates shaped like Japanese puddings. The packaging has a similar shape and inside there's many mini puddings. I admit, the taste did not fascinate me. It does taste like pudding with chocolate and it's not bad at all, just not my favorite.

Popin' Cookin' Kuru Kuru Takoyaki DIY Candy Kit
~DIY candy~

"DIY set for making the popular Japanese street food snack Takoyaki (octopus balls) from candy ingredients."

As caixas incluem sempre um DIY (do it yourself) muito característico de algum doce/refeição japonesa. Desta vez o DIY consiste num famoso street snack chamado Takoyaki, mais precisamente "bolas de polvo" através de "candy ingredients", como descrevem no panfleto. Assustador, eu sei. Ainda assim quis experimentar pois a experiência costuma ser sempre muito engraçada. Espreitem o vídeo acima! Foi muito divertido e o resultado até me surpreendeu. / These boxes always include a very characteristic DIY from some sweet/japanese meal. This time the DIY consists of a famous street snack called Takoyaki, more precisely "octopus balls" through "candy ingredients", as described in the pamphlet. Scary, I know. I still wanted to try it, the experience is always very funny. Peek the video above! It was a lot of fun and the result actually surprised me.

Kit Kat Dark Chocolate MiniBar
~Japanese exclusive~

"Japanese dark chocolate version of Kit Kats. The flavor is written as 'otona no amasa' which translates to 'adults' sweetness."

Este foi o doce que mais curiosidade me suscitou ao abrir a caixa. Kit kat de chocolate negro! É exclusivamente japonês pelo que não existe cá (pelo menos para já, tendo em conta que o Kit Kat rosa já chegou, right?). A textura é tão estaladiça como o original e o sabor muito bom. Perfeito para os apreciadores de chocolate negro! A única desilusão foi mesmo o facto de ser um mini chocolate e não o full size. / This was the candy that made me more curious when opening the box. Dark chocolate Kit Kat! It's uniquely Japanese so it does not exist here in Portugal. The texture is as crunchy as the original and the taste really good. Perfect for dark chocolate lovers! The only disappointment was the size, since it was a mini chocolate.

Pocky Natural Straberry Biscuit sticks
~Popular treat~

"Gently sweet strawberry Pocky sticks with no artificial colors or flavorings".

Gostei particularmente destes palitos de morango. Não tinham um sabor muito intenso nem excessivamente doce, o que me agradou bastante. Os sticks em si tinham aquela textura e sabor normal de biscoito e o "topping" de morango dava aquele sabor doce extra, sem ser enjoativo. / I really liked these strawberry sticks. They did not taste very intense or overly sweet, which pleased me a lot. The sticks themselves had that normal biscuit texture and taste, and the strawberry topping gave that extra sweet flavor without being too much.

Yokin Umaibo Snack Natto Flavor
~Dagashi~

"Umaibo or 'delicios stick' in Japanese is a puffed corn snack. This one is flavored with Natto, fermented soya bean powder."

Este "rolinho" é meio estaladiço e sabe essencialmente a milho. Não é mau mas a textura apesar de meio estaladiça também se desfazia com facilidade. Não foi o meu favorito, mas not bad. / This "roll" is a little crunchy and tastes essentially like corn. Not bad but the texture though crumbly also melted easily. It was not my favorite, but not bad.

Tomica Ramune Candy
~Ramune Candy~

"Soda flavor ramune candies in the shapes of cars and other popular Tomica toys".

Este candy em formato de pequenos carrinhos tinha pelo menos dois sabores distintos de fruta. Um era bem mais agradável que o outro (penso que era o de uva). Os chamados "ramune candy" são doces especificamente criados a partir de refrigerantes. São semelhantes a rebuçados e ao longo do tempo desfazem-se na boca. Até gostei! / This small candy shaped like little cars had at least two distinct fruit flavors. One was especially better than the other (I think it was grape). "Ramune candy" is made from soda drinks. These melted after a while and became easy to crack. I liked it!

Koikeya Scorn Wafy BBQ Corn Snacks
~Savory Snack~

"Delicious, salty and savory Japanese-style barbecue flavored corn puffs."

Não estava nada à espera de gostar deste snack de barbecue, até porque o facto de não conseguir ler os ingredientes me assusta um pouco. Acabei por gostar bastante (demasiado até). São muito estilo "cheetos" e comem-se num instante. / I was not expecting to like this barbecue snack, also because the fact that I can not read the ingredients scares me a bit. I ended up liking it a lot (too much). They are very cheetos style and they disappeared in seconds!

Meiji Fruit Gumi Peach Gummy Candy
~Sweet Candy~

"One of the best selling soft candy in Japan. They are made with concentrated, real peach juice preserving the real fruit taste."

Entendo o porquê destas gomas serem um dos best sellings "soft candy". Supostamente são feitas com "concentrated, real peach juice" e realmente o sabor é muito suave e agradável. Novamente não é excessivamente doce e são extremamente macias! Gostei mesmo muito. / I understand why these gummys are one of the best selling soft candy. Supposedly they are made with "concentrated, real peach juice" and the taste is actually very smooth and pleasant. Again not overly sweet and extremely soft! I really enjoyed it.

Tohato Caramel Corn Snacks
~Popular snack~

"The delicious taste of caramel and the crispiness of the corn puffs make these a perfect snack!"

Estes snacks deliciosos já não são novidade para mim e são literalmente o melhor desta caixa. Não consigo descrever o quão bom são! O sabor é uma mistura entre caramelo e milho com uma textura incrível e muito crunchy. Viciante! Só é pena a embalagem trazer tão poucos. / These delicious snacks are not new to me and are literally the best of this box. I can not describe how good it is! It's a mix between caramel and corn with an incredible texture and so crunchy. Addictive! Too bad the package has such a small ammount of these!

Kasugai Rose Aroma Ramune Candy
~Kinosei candy~

"Rose flavored ramune candy blended with catechin and rose petal extract."

Nunca tinha ouvido falar em doces com sabor a rosa, mas aqui está o perfeito exemplo que é algo que de facto existe. Não gostei, admito. Muito floral! Desfazem-se totalmente na boca e sabem mesmo a flores. São semelhantes aos outros doces "ramune" ali em cima mas definitivamente florais. / I never heard of rose aroma candy, but here is the perfect example that is something that actually exists. I did not like it much, I admit. Very floral! They dissolve totally in the mouth and they taste like flowers. They're similar to the other ramune candy above but definitely floral.
