Trying Korean Face Masks / Huxley Sleep Mask & Secriss

Continuo a ver o mundo da kbeauty como uma aventura ainda com muito por descobrir. Desta vez, conheci a Jolse, uma loja totalmente direcionada à cosmética coreana. Fiz uma encomenda bem recheada (em breve partilho os restantes produtos), e decidi experimentar algumas marcas para mim novas. Hoje falo-vos apenas de máscaras de rosto, em concreto da Sleep Mask da Huxley, e da sheet mask que a Jolse incluiu nas amostras (eles dão imensas, incluindo máscaras full size como aquela!).


I continue to see the kbeauty world as an adventure yet to be discovered. This time, I got to know Jolse, a store totally focused on Korean cosmetics. I made a well-packed order (I'll talk about the other products soon), and decided to try some new brands (new to me). Today I'm focusing on face masks, specifically Huxley's Sleep Mask, and the sheet mask that Jolse has included in the samples (they give so many, including full size masks like that!).

Huxley Sleep Mask: Good Night 100ml

Procurei as marcas cruelty-free disponíveis no site da Jolse (infelizmente não são muitas) e, para além da Cosrx e Neogen, encontrei informação que confirma que a Huxley também o é (não vendem na China). Para me estrear na marca, escolhi uma máscara de noite.

"The non-sticky gel type texture moisturize the skin without bothering you in your sleep. The mask helps the skin sleep well, vitalizing and clearing the skin during the night. Cactus extract and seed oil, hyaluronic acid, and anti-oxidant complex ingredients with superb anti-oxidant effect."

De  textura em gel, esta máscara tem extrato de cactus, ácido hialurônico e outros ingredientes antioxidantes na sua fórmula. Promete ajudar a pele a "dormir bem", vitalizando e limpando-a durante a noite.

I searched for the cruelty-free brands available on Jolse's website (unfortunately not many) and, apart from Cosrx and Neogen, I found information that confirms that Huxley is also (they don't sell in China). From this brand I chose a night mask. It's a gel texture — this mask has cactus extract, hyaluronic acid and other antioxidant ingredients in its formula. It promises to help the skin to "sleep well", vitalizing and cleaning it overnight.


OPINIÃO:
Fiquei de imediato apaixonada pelo packaging. Tem um design muito simples e atrativo. Gostei particularmente do cilindro em cartão onde a embalagem estava acomodada — muito clean e bonito. A primeira sensação ao aplicar a máscara no rosto é a de frescura. A textura em gel é muito refrescante e basta uma pequena quantidade de produto. Reconheci de imediato o aroma como sendo de extrato de cacto por já ter utilizado outros produtos com aromas idênticos. Não sou particularmente fã de fragrâncias e, ainda que esta não seja excessivamente forte, é notória. Acabou por não me incomodar, foi mais uma questão de choque inicial. 

Inicialmente parece ser um pouco sticky, mas passado pouco tempo absorve ligeiramente e não fica com aquela sensação peganhosa. Tinha receio de a utilizar todas as noites (tenho pele mista) por ser um produto cuja finalidade é manter a pele hidratada, mas não a considero excessivamente hidratante (uso cerca de 4/5 vezes por semana). Acordo com a pele fresca, hidratada e com um aspeto saudável. Estou a utilizá-la há cerca de um mês e, ainda que goste da sensação de frescura e hidratação ligeira, não sinto que faça uma diferença enorme na minha pele (a minha opinião está um pouco dividida). É ótima para quem, como eu, não sente necessidade de utilizar produtos extremamente hidratantes com muita frequência. Além disso, 100ml é imenso produto. Continuo muito curiosa com a marca e vou, sem dúvida, experimentar mais produtos!

OPINION:
I was immediately in love with the packaging. It has a very simple and attractive design. I particularly liked the carton cylinder where the packaging was accommodated — very clean and beautiful. The first sensation when applying the mask on the face is freshness. The gel texture is very refreshing and a small amount of product is sufficient. I immediately recognized the aroma as being from cactus extract because I already used other products with identical aromas. I am not particularly fond of fragrances, and although it is not excessively strong, it is notorious. It did not bother me, it was more of an initial shock.

Initially it seems to be a bit sticky, but after a little time it absorbs slightly and does not get that sticky feeling. I was afraid to use it every night (I have combination skin) because it is a product whose purpose is to keep the skin moisturized, but I do not consider it too moisturizing (I use about 4/5 times a week). I wake up with a fresh feeling on the skin, as well as a bit of moisturization and with a somehow healthy look. I've been using it for about a month, and although I like the feeling of freshness and light hydration, I do not feel that it makes a huge difference on my skin (my opinion is a bit split). It's great for anyone who, like me, does not feel the need to use extremely moisturizing products too often. In addition, 100ml is a big amount. I continue to be very curious about the brand and will undoubtedly try out more products!

Secriss Pure Nature Potato Sheet Mask (20 Sheets)

Esta sheet mask de batata veio junta com uma série de amostras bem generosas por parte da loja. Confesso que não conhecia a marca em questão, e também não encontrei muita informação acerca da mesma. O que mais curiosidade me suscitou, foi mesmo o facto de ser de batata. Promete "acalmar e proteger pele irritada utilizando o componente de batata".

OPINIÃO:
O tamanho da sheet mask, ainda que grandinho para a minha cara, adaptou-se com bastante facilidade, como é possível ver na fotografia abaixo. A primeira impressão que tive ao abrir a embalagem foi a quantidade de produto que vem embebido no tecido, bem como fora dele. Confesso que sou uma total newbie no que toca a sheet masks, por isso o processo foi especialmente divertido para mim. Na embalagem dizem que devemos mantê-la no rosto durante 15 minutos e, ao retirar, ajudar o produto restante a absorver, com leves batidinhas. Foi precisamente o que fiz, e adorei! Nunca senti a minha pele tão hidratada, juro. Só é possível adquirir esta máscara num conjunto de 20 máscaras no total, por 23$ (em promoção).


This potato sheet mask came along with a number of very generous samples from the store. I confess I did not know the brand in question, nor did I find much information about it. What attracted me most was the fact that it was made from potato. It promises to "calm and protect irritated skin using the potato component".

OPINION:
The size of the sheet mask, although large for my face, has adapted quite easily, as you can see in the picture above. The first impression I had when opening the packaging was the amount of product that comes soaked in the fabric as well as out of it. I confess that I am a total newbie when it comes to sheet masks, so the process was especially fun for me. On the packaging they say that we should keep it on the face for 15 minutes and, when removing, help the remaining product to absorb with our hands. That's exactly what I did, and I loved it! I've never felt my skin so hydrated, I swear. It is only possible to purchase this mask in a set of 20 masks in total, for $23 (on promotion).
